Brooklyn Brownstone Stair Repair

The stairway in this brownstone was in serious disrepair.

Railings were damaged or missing, and the entire stair was pulling away from the wall.

Stair supports Stair supports
Support joists were added beneath the stairs to stabilize them during restoration (click to enlarge)

Before repairs could be made, we needed to stabilize the staircase using supports underneath the structure. Once this was done, we could begin the work which included inserting metal rods into the stairs, reattaching it to the wall, and then sheathing it with metal lathe that would accept the new lime plaster finish.

The finished, restored stairway was well worth all the effort it took to get it there.
